Toronto sopra e sotto -Toronto overground and underground

Ieri, dopo una giornata accorciata di tre ore nel volo da Vancouver a Toronto, ci siamo finalmente sistemati in albergo verso mezzanotte.

Oggi abbiamo esplorato Toronto, con le sue eleganti architetture moderne, curiosi negozi underground non lontano da Chinatown e la sua città sotterranea, con 27 km di cunicoli, innumerevoli negozi e food courts che consentono di fare a piedi tutto il centro riparati dalla pioggia, tra centri commerciali, uffici e stazioni della metropolitana, senza mai affiorare in superficie.

Il clou è stato la visita della CN Tower, coi sui piani di osservazione a 360 m e a 447 m di altezza; una parte del piano più basso ha un impressionante pavimento di vetro, da cui ho scattato alcune foto verso il basso con diversi zoom. Paola non è venuta perché aveva paura delle vertigini... mentre sottoterra ha apprezzato molto il kg (circa) di gelato di una "cookie explosion" presa in un food court...

Yesterday, after a three hour shortened day in the flight from Vancouver to Toronto, we finally found our hotel accommodation at about midnight.

Today we explored Toronto, with its elegant modern archictectures, curious underground (-style) shops near Chinatown and its (actual) underground town, with 27 km of tunnels, countless shops and food courts where you can keep sheltered by the rain while walking through the whole centre in shopping malls, offices and subway stations, without ever coming to surface.

The highlight has been the visit to the CN Tower, with observation points at respectively 360 m and 447 m above ground; a portion of the lower observation point has a thrilling glass floor, from which I took some pictures with different zoom factors in direction of ground. Paola didn't come for fear of dizziness... whereas underground she appreciated much the (almost) kg of ice cream of a "cookie explosion" in a food court...
